My ablation was on February 2nd. Next day woke to chest pains which were diagnosed as pericarditis. Because anti inflammatories like naproxen and ibuprofen are taboo with Appixaban I was put on colchicine. Side effects were horrendous so with symptoms gone I was told I could drop it. 3 weeks later pericarditis is back so EP said to take just 3 days of naproxen. This worked but 4 days later it is back ( I wonder if a long haul flight has contributed to that?). Not sure what to do - anyone have any similar experience? Many thanks

Can you explain by long haul flight? When, how long etc
I had pericarditis and oesophagitus after one of my ablations. I was on colchicine and Prednisolone for a few days which took the edge of things but it took a couple of months to settle down fully.
Like you I encountered pericarditis the day after my ablation...but fortunately a week of colchicine took care of it. I have to think the air pressure involved in flying contributed to your issues, but your EP should be helpful is figuring out just what happened...
A steroid would probably be the most effective treatment. A long acting injection such as depomedral, might be easier on the GI system in regards to threat of bleeding. Ask your doctor.
