Hi Martin
LVH is a thickening of the wall of the heart- it can be caused by high blood pressure, AF, valve disease etc and if these are treated then it can be reversed. It can also, once in existence, cause some of the other problems, so it's important to find the cause in a particular case so the right treatment can be started and then put things into reverse!!
I have lvh due to very high blood pressure that I didn't know about. It's mild but it does increase your risk.I am now on blood pressure meds ramipril and amlodipine. My cardiologist said the key is to get the blood pressure well controlled to stop it progressing but I have read that it regresses in some people after bp treatment.I hope it does in my case as that reduces my risk as well. What is your story with lvh?
Thanks for that I have no high blood pressure but I have a fib and mild l v h and have been given b blockers and anticoagulant , had a camera into heart and was told no heart disease although my g p calls l v h heart disease, thanks for your reply
My understanding is that "heart disease" tends to be used to describe disease of the arteries to the heart meaning that the blood supply is compromised and can lead to "heart attack" where the muscles of the heart are starved of blood.
LVH I would say was a diseaase of the heart (unlike AF which is a condition) rather than heart disease but its all a bit pedantic. You have something wrong with your heart like most of us.
I had LVH mild case, now back to normal after weight loss, and AF treatment, main cause is high BP but can also develop due to intense exercise !

Thanks Andy for that did you have night blood pressure also and this was also a cause of l v h and putting that right made the walls go back to normal
I had mild LVH . I may still have . Have you discussed this with your doctors? If no do so . I was sent a report from hospital a few weeks after I left after a short stay with flutter. I was not discussed with me just written on the report. A bit worrying So I went to my GP she said mild is mild, can be nothing , just has been noticed and reported so they can remember to check if it worse on any next visit.
She said dont worry . That applied to me not you, you need your own discussion based around your own circumstances. By don't worry either whilst you arrange that discussion.
