Keep calm and carry on and enjoy your holiday ... that said what was it prescribed for ??? Heart rate or blood pressure control. Unless your cardiac system has something actively sinister going on I would expect a small increase both in heart rate and blood pressure. DO NOT try and play catch up! Just carry on and take your next dose when it is due. DO NOT try and cut your pill in half and pro rata the dose, Just take your next dose when it is due.
When you take your next dose it may take s few days to re regulate whatever your condition is, BP or HR.
The usual caveat of course, I am not a GP, just a patient who has been on Bisoprolol for 10 years and who has done what you have done.
Of course, if you feel unwell clear off to an A & E unit someplace.
Thanks John. Bisoprolol is for rhythm control. That said I have had 5 episodes of PAF this November (it seems to be increasing 😣, I have previously had 3 ablations). BP is fine. I am away for 6 weeks and inadvertently didn’t put enough bisoprolol in my bag, so have taken it for the last 4 weeks, during which time I have had the 5 episodes of AF. Husband suffers with anxiety so if he were to know and I had to go to the hospital he would be super stressed. 2 weeks left till we go home, I would never consider playing ‘catch up’ with meds.
Thanks to all the comments I think I will go with my gut instinct and worry about it only if I need to. I have my flecainide as PIP.
I am the type who would worry if I have forgotten my medicine. But that’s just me. If I were you I would see if I could get someone to email over the prescription slip and get the Bisoporol from the pharmacy. But then again I don’t know which part of Middle East you are at right now. I will see if there is any way I could get it where I am and continue taking it as usual. Like Carneuny said, don’t play catch up. If that’s not possible where you are then try and just stay calm and not to worry too much about it. Unless of course if you feel super unwell and have fast HR and high BP go to the A&E. Hopefully everything will be OK for you.
My take on what you wrote was different to Spritzerace ...so, did you leave all your medication at home or did you forget just ONE dose??? You didn't specify ☹️
If you left it all at home, then try and do what Spritzerace suggests.
I also read it as Bisoprolol left at home. Lot’s of things you can do. Do what has been suggested and ask surgery or your pharmacist to email a copy. Alternatively, establish a source of supply near you and ask your surgery/pharmacy to contact them direct. Bisoprolol is probably the most commonly available betablocker. If you have other AF related medication (anticoagulants) or other heart related medication with you, show the pharmacy and plead!
I would NOT do nothing, even stopping Bisoprolol under the instructions of your Doctor requires being weaned off the medication.
I would definitely get some replacement medication asap. You need to worry about your own health first. Your husband's anxiety will be worse if you get sick. Traveling is stressful to the heart so you should re start your meds sooner rather than later. You may find it's available over the counter, if not ring your GP and get them to fax a prescription. You will continue to worry if you don't and that is negative in itself. A few days missed dose maybe Ok but it depends on the half life of the tablet. If you have extended family in the Middle East you may find a relative who takes this medication and could help you out in the meantime, then you could just replace their supply. Just keep calm in the meantime. I am sure you can sort it and then you can enjoy your stay properly.
Thanks for all your comments. I have been away from home (reside in UK and am in Middle East at present) for 4 weeks (out of a planned 6 weeks) I thought I brought 6 weeks supply of bisoprolol with me but when I checked I had brought another Med instead so do not have any bisoprolol for the remaining 2 weeks I am in the Middle East. Sorry for the confusion x
