Hi All, I just need some help understanding a few things. I ended up having an ECG in hospital as an emergency after I had rang 111 about possible reflux, the ECG showed a dip? Which indicated damage to my left aorta. I have been given blood pressure medication but I have never had any chest pain or anything I think shows angina. How do I know how bad the angina is or how to make things better, I don’t know if I need to not exercise or anything useful. I’m waiting for an appointment at the cardiac unit in hospital but I’m pretty confused

As I understand it, an ECG only shows the heart’s electrical activity and gives an indication of a problem. You will need a heart ultrasound (“echo “), arteriogram or - best of all, I read - a “stress” MRI to show the physical structure and functioning of the heart.
Aftera certain age, most people have some structural issues, so I would try not to be too concerned (but easier said than done, eh?).
