Flecainide side effects

Now taking 100 mg morning and evening which seems to be doing the trick...I was on it for two months this time last year post ablation. Some things which I wonder may or may not be connected and would love some views. 1. Getting occasional cold sweats 2. Aching limbs (even allowing for 63 year old aching limbs) 3. A general sense of fatigue / loss of bounce.

Been back on it since September.

I take Flecainide and I agree with your points 2 & 3. Though this time of year, we are perhaps not so physically active (lethargic). We also hold more tension in our bodies (causing aches) because the weather's getting colder.

However, I've often wondered if pills can slow down our heart rate, could they also slow down other organs or bodily functions!

Mmmmm, I was far too polite to mention the other effect as I perceive it on the basis my wife is much happier now that I don’t spend so much time on the loo LOL 😂

I do feel less “driven” and hope that with the passage of time my old bones get used to it. For me I always had a slow strong heart rate of spot on 60 bpm, it was like I had a quartz mechanism. Still exactly the same post Flecainide, but its designed to stop the night time breakthroughs when my heart goes slow. That said when I had a stress echocardiogram a couple of weeks ago they were really pushing to get my heart up to 130 bpm. That was a weird experience having your heart rate raised chemically while lying on a hospital bed. Good to know that as with 15 years ago when I had a normal echocardiogram, I had also ridden up on my Harley, they said that a crash on the bike and they would have had it straight out and into someone else 😆

May take 12 months for the body to get used to the higher dosage. Are you taking other pills that could cause the aches e.g. statins., I'm on the same dose and agree with 1 & 3

Nothing else just lansoprazole, small dose for acid reflux. Just too much of a coincidence that these things are sort of coming along now. I know that many people on statins get very achy so glad I am not on those. There’s always wasps at the picnic so I will just put up with it for the next three months and then review it with my consultant. If it stops any Afib then worth it.

I remember saying before that Afib is a strange beast in that you just feel different after you develop it, even when things are normal. Can’t put a finger on it, one just changes as an individual the way you feel inside. I have just lost a significant amount of my “bounce” since August 2018 when I got the Flutter and even in the period December 2018 until August 2019 when there was no episodes and no medication one just feels “different”. That said when you hear other people’s stories I just count my blessings.

Were, not was, appalling grammar on my part. See what Afib does to you!

If I was you I would talk to an experienced Alternative Practitioner or Integrative doctor to sort out the acid reflux, could reduce your AF episodes (courtesy of the Vagus Nerve) and avoid that lansoprazole. Long before I was diagnosed with AF, my gastro system with reflux was playing up and various lifestyle changes have stopped it. Good luck.

Thanks for your post. It's always instructive to read what side effects other people experience when they take flecainide. My major side effect is short-lasting headaches - maybe for not more than a minute or two. Which is not very much to complain about. I hope all your other effects resolve for you soon.
