Hi had a copy of the letter from cardiologist re my recent two week ECG it states atrial fibrillation with slow ventricular, anybody aware of what this means! I have an appointment on 25/11 with Electrophyist (hope that’s the right spelling)
atrial fibrillation with slow ventric... - Atrial Fibrillati...
atrial fibrillation with slow ventricular
Hi Maisie...basically this means thst you have an irregular heartbeat ....atrial fibrillation....but you do not have a correspondingly high heart rate as is often, but by no means always, the norm.
I'm sure that your Electrophysiologist (EP) will explain everything to you and not long to wait !
Thank you was confused as the cardiologist said my heart rate was very high
Well I hope I haven't given you duff information then ! My AF is always fast and described as AF with a fast ventricular response.
Someone else will pop up shortly to properly clarify although we are not medically qualified ,apart from a couple of EPs who give opinions from time to time.
As far as I know Atrial Fibrillation is the fast and chaotic beats of the top chambers of which some of the signals causing will pass through to the lower chambers. This causes the ventricles to beat normaly to extra fast. Depending on the intensity of the irregular beats some people will not know they are having AF while others cannot tolerate them.
It can feel like a car running on 3 cylinders and misfiring.
Atrial Flutters or SVT's are more organized whereby a rogue pulse fires once in between the normal pulses. This rogue pulse passes through to the lower chamber and thereby doubles the normal heart rate. This is not normally as frightening as AF but can become Complex SVT if a second rogue pulse fires up on occasion.
I have both conditions but not at once.
