Hello everyone would like to know what is the best position for you guys to be during AF? How to reduce the ‘feel’ of the thumping heart? Do you sit back straight ? Lie on your right? Sit with a slightly higher pillow? What do you guys do to reduce it? Thanks.

Best Position During AF
I was told by Paramedics to be semi reclined but I found it difficult to stay there as to go to sleep I prefer to be on my side, left side was far too uncomfortable as I heard/felt every beat but I was OK on my right, with an extra pillow. Putting earplugs in and listening to music or an audiobook helped a lot - distraction + shut out the pulsatile titinus.
I tried all sorts of positions and tricks but the only really comfortable position for me was on right side and try to relax. In the days when I had episodes, I didn't know about correct breathing and that would probably have helped too.
It might be best for you but I suspect it's a matter of trial and error to find the best method of coping.
I stand Up as straight as I can walk around. That way I don't feel or hear the thumping as much. Sometimes I put a tennis ball between the wall in my back and try to massage my back. It seems to help.
Sitting up in a bad attack helps me,as I tendvto read/ listen to audiobook. Never lie on left side !
Thanks for sharing.
I now sleep semi-reclined, at least to start with, as any position is quite uncomfortable heart-wise. Soon as I'm horizontal, whatever the position although right-side is better, the old ticker jumps about.
When I had Paroxysmal AF I would get home as soon as possible, go to bed, and off to sleep. Now that I have permanent AF , which I can't feel I just get on with life.
Daytime I sit on the sofa leaning on the right arm and at night I have 4 pillows so I’m on my right side but laying at 45degrees. I have earphones in and listen to audio books, podcasts or radio.
