Hi! Just need to vent. Been feeling ectopics and fast Atrial for the past 6 hours. HR was 137 a few minutes ago and now is 92. I still need to walk home. Can we exercise while in AFIB? What do you guys do if you decide to weather it at home? I don’t want to go to ER. Just need to hear from you guys. Thanks.

In AF Now
Obviously we are not medically trained. But I have read on here before that if you are not experiencing any chest pain, dizziness or feeling faint, then gentle exercise is ok. If that changes then it is wise to seek medical help.
Hope you are feeling better now.
Best wishes Ally
Thanks Ally. Yes feeling better now and safely home.
Glad you’re feeling better. When I’m in afib I can never exercise because it makes me weak. I tried to take a shower once when I was in afib and it was drudgery. They say that happens with people that have paroxysmal afib (the weak feeling) but not with people that have it all the time.
Key advice I have heard on exercise is to listen to your body, if you can't say a sentence cause your breathings to hard, or your feeling the pain of angina, or other concern, rest and wait till it eases, or seek help if it doesn't ease by resting, better safe than sorry. Mobile phone useful if you need help away from base. Best wishes. Andy
I had paroxysmal afib. Before an ablation, which so far has held it at bay since May, I worked out a deal with my EP. it went something like this: if my heart rate didn’t get above 140 or so, I didn’t have any chest pains, dizziness, etc. and it didn’t last for more than 8 hours, I could ride it out at home.didnt run any marathons but was able to be mobile. I rode out 15 or more episodes this way. No ill effects, other than being very tired.
Thanks for the reply. Yup. I did the same too. But read somewhere that if we always have HR of say 120++ (but below 140) while in AF and it happens often, it will damage or weaken the heart muscle. How do we know when often is too often? I mean coz we are used to weathering it out at home if it stops within 6 to 8 hours.
Good question. At the time I was having episodes monthly. When they started coming more frequently, like every two weeks, we both decided it was time for an ablation. That’s the weird thing about this condition. At once a month, it was manageable. When it was happening every two weeks, my quality of life was just getting too compromised..
Good luck!
Go to hospital.
I read you say that heat is a trigger. I say to you from experience, Are you drinking enough water, are you getting dehydrated. I got so badly dehydrated once when out training for marathon and cross country that i lost 8LB in weight !! Bells started ringing in ears and weak as. This is dangerous as the blood thickens and naturally the heart finds it harder to pump.If you have AF it is very important to keep hydrated as well
