Cardioversion recovery

Hi, had my cardioversion on Tuesday morning. On the way home from the hospital, I started feeling really sick and this has persisted. It's worse after eating, which I haven't done very much of. Is this usual? I thought I'd be fine pretty much straight away after the cardioversion, which did work. I've found some old Stemeril (anti nausea drug) but not sure if I should try one. Any advice?

This is not something I have ever experienced so maybe nothing to do with the cardioversion unless you had a bad reaction to the sedation. Drink plenty of water and if it doesn't pass very soon see you doctor.

Sorry to hear this, I know this doesn't help but I have had several cardioversions and felt right as rain as soon as the sedation had worn off.

I suggest that you phone the hospital ward that did your CV and ask them

It could just be a bug you've caught, but I know I would want to talk to someone about it. I've had numerous cardioversions and have never felt ill afterwards. I would advise you to ring your AF nurse for advice.

Were you given a contact number and information leaflets on what to expect after your cardioversion? Please seek advice.

I had mine a week ago and the only time I felt sick was the first 2 times I ate afterwards but that wore off. I’ve not know sickness to be a problem after ablation and can only think as others have said it is a reaction to anaesthetic/sedation or a bug of some sort. If it carries on then your I would contact your doctor.

Hope you feel better soon.

I awoke from my ablation in terrible abdominal pain. I was mostly ignored until it persisted and I complained LOUDLY! Also I started coughing up blood and CT scans showed I had pericarditis which definetly affected my appetite. The pericarditis resolved in about 10 days time (with medication).

But I still had abdominal discomfort. Endoscopy showed unusual patterns or stryrations in the lining of my stomach & several blood clots. I'm now on meds to prevent & slow down acid production. My GI doc said (and I quote): "I've never seen anything like it before". Hmmm. They're treating it like ulcers, and i feel worse for NOT eating which indicates high stomach acid to me. The docs have honestly not been much help, and this is Stanford! I'm shocked, but shouldn't be I know. It can happen anywhere.

DEFINETLY complain to your doc UNTIL YOU GET A REACTION! You should NOT be feeling this way!! Wish you all the best and good luck.
