My normal experience with AFIB is for it to start then run right through for 15-45 minutes or so (was longer but amiodarone has cut it back) until nsr resumed. This afternoon for the past hour I have been going in and out of AFIB which is annoying enough, but I also hace a heart event monitor! Have captured a couple of recordings, but not going to try at the moment because of the fluctuation. Anyone else experienced this 'AFIB in and out' situation?

Yes, a few times. An episode like this tends to occur after I have experienced a few episodes close together. I had a particularly bad 2 weeks earlier in the year and after a couple of episodes lasting between 4 -8 hours, I had an in and out one for most of the night about 48 hours later. The next few days were not very good with similar small events with my heart getting back to “normal” a few days later. I was away in Portugal at the time and wondered if the stress of being away from home when having AF and perhaps doing too much in the day (in the main my AF starts overnight) exacerbated it all. I had also had very bad flu a month earlier with a chest infection which had also kicked off a couple of lengthy AF episodes within 48 hours then. I also wondered if I hadn’t fully recovered from the flu. Having said that, we are all different and although I mentioned it to the GP she made no comment but upped my bisoprolol dose. I wonder if these in and out episodes are the start of my heart battling back to right itself when it has had a particularly rough time with AF?
Wow, Londonlass, many thanks for your reply. The in and out of afib was indeed after a couple of episodes close together! And, yes, I didn't feel right for a while after it (ie this morning also). Your comments helped reassure me but your thinking 're our heart 'battling back was helpful, too. It's such a wacky disease at times that it's good to share experiences to try to figure things our. At first, my Amiodarone was really aging the afib, but on the 200mg dose, it dies at times feel as if the drug is fighting the afib but my heart and body feel like a battle ground!
Thanks again,
Take care
