I want to know if the CoaguChek Coagulation Meter

can be used for people who take Pradaxa.

Or is it just for Warfarin patients?

I understand Warfarin changes the way the liver adjust blood coagulation and the other anticoagulants do not.

I saw a good deal on one on EBay and also learned Medicare will pay for one. Thanks

The new anticoagulants work in a completely different way from warfarin so you don't need any checks except tests by your doctor to see that your liver and kidneys are ok.

Warfarin affecct INR which is why you have to check it. The newer drugs work in a completely different way and need no testing. Save your money.

Thank you for your sensible advice Bob. Is there any way that I can if check the dose of Apixaban is right for me? I currently take 5mg x 2 daily but I am only 7st 3 first thing in the morning.

How are you now?

The Coaguchek XS handheld testing device is only for those on Warfarin. People on the NOAC's do not need testing.
