Experience with 'maintenance' dosage of Amiodarone

Just when I thought all was well - shorter afib espisodes, feeling stronger, more energy, seem to be almost back at square one again - more frequent episodes, with frequent heart 'fluttering' as well and not being able to do so much. This seems to be because I started, as is usual, on 3x200 amiodarone then reduced to 2 and now on the 1 per day maintenance dose. I know I've mentioned this before, but I am surprised/disappointed to be so far (and so quickly) back to square 1'.

You load the body with amidorone at the start, which is why you take a larger dose for the first few weeks.

When all your cells are full of Amiodorone you don't need as much to keep the levels high.

As you may know, Amiodorone has a half life of several months, so even if you stopped taking it today, in 3-6 months time you would still have half of the amiodorone still in your system.

Thanks, Mikee, I can see I have all the Amiodarone that's possible/sensible. Don't know why it seems to have stopped working so well, although, on reflection, the initial 2 weeks of 'feeling great' did make me push to the limits.

Take care
