Hi all, can anyone recommend a good travel insurance company please. I’m travelling to New York in a couple of months and I’m hoping to keep the costs down. I suffer from persistent afib but have been in nsr since a cardioversion a couple of months ago. I take bisoprolol, rivaroxaban and dronedarone. If/when I revert to afib I take extra bisoprolol and book in for another cardioversion which takes about four months on the Nhs. I’m hoping the dronedarone will keep me in nsr this time. Many thanks x

Staysure are pretty reliable but I think you'll find all insurers only cover you for "public hospitals" so should the worst happen and you are whisked off check where they are taking you. You will of course have to inform insurers from your hospital trolley and have a fairly hefty credit card to wave as you enter in the meantime.

We used flexicover when we went to the States. Declare everything. Bear in mind many underwriters are European companies . We were assured their contracts with the brokers were sound.

Have also used All Clear but never needed to claim with them. Our one hospital experience was Lanzarote and we were fortunate they paid as my OH was advised to go to private hospital as 24 hour interpreters.

Hello Hellie,

I have had trouble getting worldwide insurance but found AllClear would cover me. They are on the BHF list. My husband was ill last year and we made a small claim which they paid out quickly with no fuss, You do need to tell them everything though as has been said already.

Good luck.
