Problem with heart monitor

Hi everyone,

So as most will know I am now 30 weeks pregnant and only found out the cryoblation I had last November didn’t work when I was 12 weeks pregnant.

I am on Labetalol and aspirin for my pregnancy. Due to palpitations every other day and eptopic beats my consultant thinks I need another ablation once baby is born. But he wanted a heart monitor on me first.

I had one fitted last month apparently it’s a trial one brand new. I got a phone call the other day to ask me to come in again for another monitor as the recording was too poor. Which was fine then I got a call 2 hours later from the heart rhythm nurse who was asking me questions like how have I been? Have I felt light headed etc ?

Something didn’t feel right so I contacted a rhythm nurse I have spoken to a few times the day after and she told me that they had to have a discussion. Something showed up called broad complex tachycardia I think she said but they are trying to work out if it was a true recording or my real rhythm. I am back Wednesday for another one.

I am super worried now as not only for myself to think about but my little girl who is on the way.

Has anyone experienced anything like this with a poor recording (hoping this is the case)

Thanks x

Hi Amy - I’m sorry but I can’t comment and I think you will need to wait to have the second monitor for a definitive diagnosis. Of course monitors give false readings and sometimes interference from the environment causes unusual results and of course if it is a new type of monitor it may not be calibrated correctly or something - don’t know enough to say how it works.

It’s really good that they are pulling you in to investigate further but in the meantime the best you can do for you and your daughter right now is to stay calm and carry on. If you are worried at all do ring the arrythmia nurse.

I can understand and empathise with your concerns, it must be so worrying for you but take a few deep breaths and really focus on how you feel. As long as you feel well, trust your body to let you know if something is seriously wrong.

Usual caution - if you feel in the least bit unwell then don’t hesitate to get yourself to A&E or call an ambulance.

Very best wishes and do keep blogging if it helps. CD x

Thankyou for your reply. It’s reassuring knowing it can be a bad reading.

My fingers are crossed but like you say at lest they are on top of it for me.

Hope your doing ok.

Take care
