Stress certainly affects AF as I have found out today. My 20 year old granddaughter was due to have a 4.5cm Acoustic Neuroma tumour removed tomorrow, we were all prepared and supporting her. When the phone call came, sorry but we have to cancel your operation as there has been an emergency. Sadly we knew there had been an accident near by and the injured person was being air lifted to LGI as they had serious head injuries. I have been in and out of AF all day after being free since my ablation on 1st July.

Stress certainly sets AF off!
So sorry to hear this, has the hospital given any indication as to when your granddaughter's op will be now?
Sorry to hear of your upset and frustration. Here's hoping things move forward for your granddaughter speedily and her health is renewed. Your af will be able to settle once things resolve. Best wishes.
Oh how upsetting for all concerned I hope you settle down soon and granddaughter gets her op. Soon tooxxx
Hi Tikaneko I do hope your granddaughter manages to have her operation soon and that all goes well, as a grandmother I can imagine the worry you must be experiencing now.
Stress and getting upset certainly seem to precede some of my episodes of P-AF.
There is an interesting article on the subject here...
Absolutely so true, although I wouldn’t have believed it until it actually happened to me one evening, I was driving home after having words with someone, although my anger didn’t ‘show’ on the outside (as far as I recall) but it was there bubbling inside me, fifteen minutes later I was home, still seething, another ten & I felt the first couple of bumps😕 another ten & it kicked in big time!
I remember thinking to myself how stupid I had been to let myself get so upset, I have know doubt that was definitely the trigger for that episode...
So sorry to hear about your granddaughter, I hope her op is rescheduled soon! Stress is the one thing I can guarantee will set me off too. It's clearly a biggie in the list of culprits.
I live in UK and we don't have that kind of control on the NHS. There are processes, but I am hoping that once my granddaughter gets sorted it will calm down again.
Stress from the death of our son brought on my AFIB. After being converted in 2017, I have had only 2 full-blown AFIB events. Both were caused by family tragedies and extreme worry over selling our home.
That is totally a fact, lack of sleep, out of routine traveling, dehydrated, sadness, or anything at all. The tricky combination for me is lack of sleep and not drinking enough... a set up for afib. So very sorry for your delay and increased stress. Blessings to you.
What a lot you have on your plate; i do hope you are back in NSR and that your grand daughter doesn't have to wait too long for her surgery. Wishing you well.
it must be a continual stress for you. The diagnosis and the apprehension waiting for the operation, which is now ongoing, has taken its toll. I was free of AF for nearly 18 months and then an upset with my sister, together with the anxiety of a looming surgical stomach procedure, ended all that. It has really come back with a vengeance, with me having to go to A/E twice. A build up of stress, over a period of time, is what did it for me. It is so upsetting when you have been free of AF for sometime and this upset is added to the picture as well. I hope you soon settle down and things go ahead soon.
