“Thank you for submitting your interest in attending a Patient Advocacy Meeting. I can now confirm the event will take place November 14, 2019 from 9:00am to 4:00pm in a New York hotel (yet to be confirmed).
It is with great pleasure that I electronically introduce AF Association’s Founder & CEO Trudie Lobban, she will accompany you during this meeting as you share your personal insights about living with AFib.
We would like to invite you to arrive one day before so that we can meet and have dinner together with other participants. You are also invited to stay a second night if this best suits your travel requirements.
The meeting is being hosted by BMS/Pfizer and they have a team who can arrange your travel and accommodation, making all necessary arrangements and covering costs. All reasonable expenses during your travel to the meeting such as taxi to/from airport and meals etc will be reimbursed against receipts.
Prior to the event we would like to have a call with you so that you are fully informed and we can ensure any questions you may have are addressed.
Please confirm you are available to attend on November 14, 2019 and the city you will be travelling from so we can begin to look at flights if necessary.
Many thanks and we look forward to hearing from you.”
Best Wishes,

No, they didn't ask me. Do you remember submitting your interest to this meeting? It sounds a bit to good to be true travelling to New York with all expenses being covered.
Be cautious and I wouldn't reply to this invitation, until you confirm the validity of this trip with someone at the AF head office tomorrow.
This is for US based members only of course. I have been to similar meetings in London . There was a post a week or so back about this so sounds kosher.
Depends if you want to give something back . We spent a morning in group discussion on a particular subject which was to do with a stategy thought up by a drug company. To have patients talk to drug companies is very difficult for legal reasons so lots of hoops had to be jumped through in order for the meeeting to take place. With the previous nights very sosciable meal it was a good couple of days despite the traveling.
Bob it would be interesting to know the Agenda for these meetings. The Advocacy you refer to , is it directed at giving out advice to those that are taking various medications, as I notice it is sponsored by a pharma group.
It was something completely different actually, assessing and critiquing a proposed app fwhich a drug company was hoping to launch but the funding and therefor expenses were available.
I didn't see anything regarding this, but if it's legitimate as it seems, I'd go in a heartbeat, no pun intended! I just also have a GI problem that keeps me stuck at home, for the most part.
I would contact perhaps the original poster of the invite, or maybe a moderator for any questions you have.
