Typical!

Nearly 3 months after ablation. Thought would be all good by now. Groin has been giving me problems since procedure. Wondered why recovery and swelling was taking so long. Well turns out I have a hernia and nothing to do with ablation. More surgery awaits .. yay :(!

On a positive note in NSR most of the time.

It is odd how we often get non related complications post procedures. Six months after my prostatectomy I was diagnosed with a hernia and thought that was to do with my operation. Apparently not! Hernia is a doddle these days. Glad the NSR continues.

I thought that all the AF medications were causing me stomach pain.

Turns out I had gall stones and had to have it taken out :D

Interesting because I too got a hernia four months after having my last ablation then it took six months to get round to having the operation so this didn’t help recovery from the ablation.

All is well now but you have to once again take it easy after the operation.

Maybe there is a connection between feeding catheters up through your groin and a weakening of the muscles in that general area.

Doubt it Pete as the catheter runs through a vein and is no where near the stomach wall muscle. We do all automatically blame our AF for everything don't we?

Ah but my hernia was in the upper right groin area very near the entry point of the catheters. The scar is right in my fluffy bits.

It appears that constipation can lead to a hernia.

Sometimes pain meds can cause constipation, and pain meds usually follow surgery.

My GP told me to start taking magnesium citrate to battle post op constipation that was aggravating hemorrhoids and causing bleeding/anemia.

Turns out magnesium citrate is also supposed to be goof for heart health anyway. So, the drink with the dissolved powder has replaced my evening wine.
