Post Ablation and Change of Medication

I was wondering if anyone has been in a similar position to myself and could offer some advice. I was disappointment after an episode clear 11 months using my CPAP ( sleep machine ) to have an AF episode which went into Atrial Flutter and had to have a DC Cardiversion ( my PIP Flecainide didn't work ) . They suggested an ablation as it was my 4th Cardioversion to which I agreed , however during the 2 month wait I experienced three PAF episodes which all cleared after 2 x 100mg Flecainide! I explained that to the consultant but he was happy to go ahead with the flutter ablation which I had last Friday. He explained afterwards it hadn't been as straightforward as he had hoped as I had AF and Flutter and they were only able to address the flutter and I am likely to have to go back, and I finished the session with a DC cardiversion as my heart rate was stuck at 125 for 3 hours ( usually 45 with Sotalol ). Anyway, my slight concern , and I didn't get a chance to ask as it was as I was leaving, but I was told to stop taking my 80mg Sotalol twice daily and change to 100mg Flecainide twice daily, but I was under the belief Sotalol should not suddenly be changed and that is my worry??? One should never stop taking Sotolol suddenly without dr. supervision. In your case, your doctor has replaced. it with another anti-arrhythmic so doing it according to those instructions should be fine.
