Hi possibility of PMR being diagnosed. AF December '18 PMR May '19 wonder what's next. Weight hasn't shifted much even though alcohol now reduced worried about steroids and more weight gain. Any positives I can look forward to? Still having tests PAF doctors think.

Sorry, I haven't a clue what PMR stands for?

? Polymyalgia Rheumatica

If you do have polymyalgia, you should see a rapid and significant improvement in your muscle aches and pains with the steroids. The downside as you say is the impact of the prednisolone on your weight and AF. I expect your GP will be looking to reduce the dose as soon as your symptoms and blood test allow that.

I am sorry you may have PMR, my friend had it and steroids gave a dramatic improvement to her symptoms. However, steroids can cause rapid bone density loss, especially as you will probably be started on a high dose which is then reduced. I would suggest you talk to your doctor about being closely monitored if you do have to take steroids.

I should add that my friend took the steroids for two or three years. They reduced the dosage every so often but the symptoms always came back. Then she was unwell with something else, her medication was stopped and the PMR had gone. Hopefully yours will too. Good luck.
