Electrophysiology Test

Hello Everyone I was informed today that I will need an Electrophysiology Test because an area in my Atrium is firing 150 bpm and my lower chamber is at 80 bpm thus causing complete heart block. I have been having constant palpitations. I was also told that the Ablation i had before was burned and that these episodes now are slower than atrial flutter. She also used the words AV Nodes and Symptomatic Atrial Tachycardia. They will try to find an area thats causing the short circuit and ablate. I am on Xarelto 20mg for DVT and the Rythmol 225 mg 3* daily is not working. Has anyone else experience this and can comment deeper on what and why this may be happening. Doc explained it but I felt so overwhelmed with all that info. I could maybe process it better reading some of the responses from you guys that can maybe relate to these issues. Feeling nervous and thanks for any feed back.

its hard to comment without knowing all your details but sounds as if you have flutter after an ablation (? for AF)

You won't have complete heart block so don't panic! The AV node stops all the activity from the atria getting through to the ventricles which is why the lower chambers are at a lower rate- which is a very good thing I hope they can ablate the area needed- flutter is usually easy to ablate

Thanks RosyG. Had 2 unsuccessful ablations before so a bit nervous here

if it is flutter it should be easier than AF ablation

she used the words symptomatic arrythmia and atrial tachycardia. She said its slower that Atrial flutter.

Symptomatic = you have symptoms that you feel and affect your life.

Arrythmia = the rhythm of your heart is either too fast or too slow or out of rhythm.

Tachycardia = a heartbeat over what is an average which is generally considered between 60-120 beats per minute.

AV Node = Atrial, Ventricular Node - it’s like the switch which allows or not the electrical current through from the atria to the ventricles.

Most of us do or will have experienced similar at one time or another.

I appreciate the break down CDreamer. Hope this study will make my life a little easier. I am 47 and it has been a roller coaster ride. Will stay positive and hope for the best. Thank you

I had 2 unsuccessful ablations and a third this past March and now in NSR. Don't give up! You're almost there.
