Forgive my lazy approach on this addressing you all in one hit ....
I am attaching yet another ECG, this time some 14 hours after finishing a delightful meal at our local Mediteranean/Tapas restaurant. I must confess I am a silly old git, I pigged out, starters and desserts would not have been the problem ... I'm blaming the mains ...paella, sauce and chunks of seafood. By a process of elimination and experience the chunks of seafood and the rice per se would not have been the problem -it would have been the sauce that the rice was cooked in. The Eton Mess was scrumptious
Anyway, I slept through the night but shortly after I got up the following morning I began to feel unwell. Some bloating but nothing significant compared to the past but there was pain. All my energy just disappeared ... I just wanted to disappear down a sinkhole ! Almost like a flu symptom.
This time I took several ECG readings on my device between 10.30 am and 12.20 pm. The attached was the most chaotic reading of them all. By 3 pm I was feeling much better.
As I said there are only two times that I am aware of when my heart chucks a wobbly, one, after food (but NOT every meal as I am fairly well disciplined re diet - except when I dine out obviously) and on seperate occasions when my HR drops suddenly and inexplicably down to 46 and its a case of 'the ice man cometh'. I blame Bisoprolol for this.
Viewing some of Sanjay Guptas videos from York Cardiology I have decided to monitor things more closely and with a bit more discipline, on occasions he makes comments about pain under left ribs is something that is causing me to be a bit more serious than I have in the past. In the past I have just written it off as a function of the bloating. Now I'm not so sure. Thank goodness these events don't occur too often and my ECG's are fairly normal for an old git and my gut doesn't often cause me distress.
Oooh - that looks uncomfortable too! I think it's NSR with awful wobblies and there an ectopic triggering each of the two bouts. Have you had this and the pain checked with your cardiologist?
I don't like to agree with you - but - silly old git can describe many of us at times! Sauces, dips etc are scrumptious but can contain additives, preservatives and so on. With me, it's friends bringing me chocolates - some day I will get up the nerve not to eat them.
Not yet Finvola, am planning that route next but I want to acquire/build up more of a dossier of statistics on these experiences before I do. However, I do think that I am going to have to review my diet -yet again!
My son is coming to stay at the weekend with my first grandson, aged 6 months. I decided to look at weaner foods to buy and picked up a package in my local supermarket. It stated " Best before March 2020."
I read recently that commercially made baby foods have a better balance of nutrients than home made food. After all canned fruit and veg are more nutritious than 'fresh' food which has been sat around for a week then badly cooked. Of course organic food straight out of the ground/off the tree and cooked under optimal conditions as part of a balanced diet would seem to be preferable but how many busy mothers are up for that?
That’s the modern dilemma in a nutshell Buffafly - shelf life, convenience and the need not to cause food poisoning equal preservatives in some form or another.
I was thinking of jars or packet foods which don't contain preservatives, additives definitely a no-no for babies. Difficult with older children - I used to buy high quality sausages with recognisable chunks of meat but my daughter informed me that I should buy ones like school dinner sausages (made with slurry) because they were better 🙄
I confess that with two late teenage siblings and a husband arriving much later for dinner that my picky little one was often fed very unhealthy meals - the older children still resent the fact over 30 years on that she got Alphabites with her tea.....
Im finding out that when I over eat( especially unhealthy foods) my heart doesnt like it. I havent had any a fib for over a year but the other night I had the “ pre a fib” feelings, and was afraid it was kicking in. I had eaten junk all day and ended it with pecan pie!!!
Several of my family as well as myself have been ill after eating meals with creamy sauce in a restaurant. I went out with my daughter and family to an Italian, had pizza and was fine, they had spaghetti carbonara and had to dash for the loo when they got home. It may have been coincidence of course and I don't think drinking Coke with meals is advisable 🙄
Oh the dreaded MSG! I was convinced some time ago that foods with MSG started off my palpitations (now AF) so now I try and avoid it as much as possible. I also found as a previous poster mentioned that sugary puddings caused tachycardia. I don't eat sugary puddings any more. healthline.com/health/aller...
