I am coming up to my 2 year post AF and SVT ablation procedure. Since my procedure I have not gone into PAF , I have not gone into SVT , however I have had some strange beats that lasts seconds then stop . Can an ablation procedure cause VT ? I am getting a bit concerned now . My procedure was a cyroablation and RF ablation in the one day π
PS these bursts have only happened after my procedure.

Hi Sam and glad it worked this long. I suspect that what you feel are ectopic beats which is a very common thing for us ablatees . Do remember that a leading EP once told me that if it lasts less than 30 seconds it doesn't need a name. These things happen but are not usually important. If you were ever able to get it recorded on an ECG one might be able to tell but since it is such short duration and self correcting I really would not worry. We all get strange bumps and stutters from time to time.
Thank you Bob, I needed some reassuring advice, itβs been going on since my ablation procedure and they got further away in time like weeks apart then months but still here lol π hope your well bob and thanks again xx
Iβm exactly the same as you Sam, both cryo and RF ablation a year ago and Iβm getting the same beats! My cardiologist registrar said it was nothing to worry about, but then he said it was safe for me to stop the Rivaroxaban until I reminded him I had 2 TIA, which he quickly fumbled through his notes and said oh yes, I missed that. No, you are not to come off those! So I donβt have a great deal of confidence in his advice!
Thatβs terrible, and I have had my fair share of trouble in the past over my heart problems, hopefully itβs just something like what bob said and itβs more of a side effect than anything else, I think I may just ask for another monitor on as to be on the safe side ππΌ hope your ok π
A salutary tale ! Yes we have to lead our doctors by the nose (they call it becoming involved in our own treatment)... In 2008 they wanted me on BP pills for life because of my family history... I said what ? and they said my granddad died at 33. I said "Yes, that's coz the Germans shot him".... Doc replied "Oh ok never mind"
I think we can become super conscious of missed beats etc when we've been through this. Def if it's so short lived it probably is ectopics. If you start to get it often you could ask for a tape to wear for a week to see what it is.
Glad to hear you're AF free still. I'm nearly 8 weeks post ablation so hoping to be like you. π
