I'm sorry I deleted my post by accident but I wanted to add a couple other things I left out. I saw a new primary care doctor in May 2018 because of my Afib. I was considering the procedure to try and stop my heart racing. I have been hospitalized several times in ER because my heart rate was well over 100. I have had two stress test and passed both of them. This primary care doctor told me to stop eating frozen stuff, ice cream, ice, etc and stop putting ice in my drinks. I thought she was crazy but was willing to give it a try. Since stopping ice or eating frozen or icing things my heart stop racing I have not had any problems with the Afib since. She told me that very cold things cause a reaction to our heart valves and can trigger Afib. I do not want to take blood thinners, I take blood pressure med for high blood pressure but it would not stop me from having Afib attacks. I wish I would have met her a long time ago. I feel she saved my life. Don't stop doing what your doctor tells you, but maybe just try and do without ice, etc and see for yourself. It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be and now I'm use to it. I hope this will help everyone with Afib. I share my story with anyone with Afib or heart issues. Good luck and be safe. :o)

I think you mean cold things affect your vagus nerve - which will trigger an episode. Many people find this is a trigger for them but don’t think you will never have another event, it’s just a trigger but hope it works for you.

Paradoxically, I find having a cold shower or cold water bathing is one of the ways to convert and strengthen vagal tone and is generally very good for you all round as it will stimulate cell renewal, so I try to do that most days. The diver’s response, putting your head into cold water is also a known vaso vagal remedy if you are in AF.

Remember that anything that starts a response has the ability to also stop it.

Your doctor is good. My last AF episode was caused by gulping a cold ginger beer. Can't face any iced drinks but ice cream if licked and warmed on the tongue doesn't cause me a problem.

I too find that ice in drinks is a trigger it is difficult these days as every drink presented has a load if ice in it....I have to say "no ice " every time I order a drink..even water!

Its amazing what meeting the right person will do. I too saw a new doc who suggested I could be Gluten intolerant. Went on Gluten free diet and haven't felt so energetic in years. If I had only known years ago!

That doesn't say much for our socialized Canadian medical system in addition to British Columbia government forbidding private clinics (only in some areas) that has an ongoing court battle to retain them. Maybe a private eye clinic would have diagnosed her immediately. There are no private clinics for AF in British Columbia.
