Panic mode Kidneys

Well I have been summoned to see doc tomorrow as my Egfr has dropped to 35 so am now in panic mode, it has been steadily dropping in my opinion since starting Apixaban but doc not in agreement with me I also take Natrilix 1.5 SR and Bisoprolol 5 mg am 2.5mg pm BP has gone out of control am overweight and a lifelong smoker (8per day) . I retired 3 years ago and have become quite sedentary mainly because I am scared excersize will start my AF off.

I am aware I have to address my lifestyle it's where to start first at 68 yrs old it's seems such a challenge but certainly don't want to go into renal failure. PAF is quite enough to cope with. Just wondered if anyone else out there has had to re evaluate thing and any tips. You are all so helpful and knowledgable.

Your ejection fraction can go up too - get you out of the danger zone. Do exercise, you’ll feel better or just be active.

yes, I have been obese for years (and still am) and I was a smoker until 12 years ago. Desk job, little to no exercise, ate junk.

Following being diagnosed with AF I have also had gallbladder issues, which also pointed a fatty liver.

I have been walking loads, I have signed up to the 1000 mile challenge this year and have completed 275 miles since January.

I now actually log what I eat, and have changed my diet.

I feel healthier, my liver is now functioning correctly, my mental state is improved.

So I would say, start walking. You will be doing 10000 steps a day sooner than you think, and be wanting to do more. Log your food intake, my biggest issues were portion size and snacks when the family had gone to bed. I use MyNetDiary app on my phone to keep check on progress.

I have lost 10 lbs this month doing this, it's a long road ahead , but I have to do this if I want to see my kids grow up.

As for the smoking, you really need to stop, I told everyone I smoked about 10 a day , but it was probably over 25!

After many failed attempts I read "Quit the easy way" by Dr Allan Carr, 12 years on and I never even feel the need for a smoke

Good luck

Two years ago my ejection fraction was normal. Then a year ago it plunged to 30, then six months later, it was normal again. Now it’s at 42. I’m not sure why I experience these wild swings but I know exercise has something to do with it. Why don’t you reply to the poster and make it public to all. Maybe you have a better answer.

Thank you
