Intense pain in arms that is unbearable at night is this connected to AFiB?

Hi there, can anyone advise? Diagnosed with AFIB January 2018 and take Sotalol 80mg morning and night and xarelto. No simple effects other than weight gain but have for the last 2 months had instense pain in left arm mainly between shoulder and elbow. It is unbearable at night. Doctor thinks it is a nerve issue but all the exercises I do don’t seem to be helping. Sleep seriously disrupted now as awake every two hours in agony. Any thoughts welcome. Thanks.

Try a different pillow. One with more support for your neck. I have had intense pain from my neck to my shoulder and changed the pillow to a hull pillow and the pain decreased 90%.

Try wearing a neck brace. My cervical stenosis and carpal tunnel does this to me and nerve numbness can be debilitating. Neck brace may help

Glad you brought this up as I have had on and off pain in the left shoulder and always thought it was a muscle nerve being trapped but after a bit of Dr Google it appears Xeralto can cause this.

I have taken R-Alpha Lipoic Acid and this has reduced it but it seems that its an ongoing effect from Xeralto which I will discuss with my Dr. next time I see her.

Thank you sleeksheep. I did ask my doctor about this and she just glossed over it and sent me off for blood tests to check for inflammation markers. There were none. My doctor is leaving and I will be assigned a new one so think I will bring it up again with them. Will keep you posted.

Hi Deb86290

If it were me and the pain was that bad Id be off to A and E. Doctors should not be glossing over things like this. It may be nothing to worry about but stress will just make things worse and a visit there will hopefully relieve the stress at least. Hopefully your new doc will be more attentive. If not I would be asking for a second opinion or a 2 week wait referral to your local hospital should be the doc's response in my view. You cannot survive on such little sleep either.

Hope you get it sorted soon!

Thank you. Off on a theee week work trip to US so will keep taking the paracetamol until I get back and see how it is then.

Often this is nerve issues in the radial plexis area of your neck. A chiropractor could help.
