This lovely false spring morning we are in the garden clearing winter's detritus. eE popped into the garden centre for coffee and a browse and I found a book of quotations some of which are quite good put downs. I said to Sam, you know how I like my put downs and she replied Yes you try most of them out on me! Anyway one which seemed so appropriate for this site was from Mark Twain. " Beware of reading medical books for fear of dying from a missprint." They didn't have google back then but still valid.

Back to clearing the pond edges and unclog the pump, filter. Think we really need to drain and start again as it is pretty brown!

Absolutely delightful

Well if we are trading quotes, this one got to me. Perhaps I need to try some of those CBD edibles 🤔

The Dalai Lama, when asked what surprised him most about humanity, said:

“Man. Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health.

And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present, the result being that he does not live in the present or the future;

he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived.”

I love your quotation.

I have been doing lots of gardening recently. The sunshine does everyone a power of good. Lots of flowers out there. Absolutely beautiful. I have a pair of electric secateurs which have the great merit of stopping after a while until they are re-charged. This reminds me not to overdo things which I am always inclined to do and then I pay for it later.

Aching a bit this morning! Four hours yesterday and four big dumpy bags of rubbish dragged up the hill to the bonfire area. Cutting dead leaves from the Torbay Palm, clearing the pond edge and pulling about a ton of ivy off the rockery. Haven't seen the rocks for a few years !

Well done. Gardening is one of the best therapies one can have. Problem is that some is too heavy for me and getting help is a problem. Ivy gets everywhere if you let it. Ditto periwinkle and wild strawberries and violets which in my ignorance I introduced into the garden 50 years ago - pretty but invasive. Each area of the garden has its own particular weeds. Bare soil and digging are things I neither have nor do. My garden esp in the sunshine does my heart good. Very uplifting.

I had a lot of my front garden covered in weed suppressing geraniums which I chose to use because my husband is not keen on lawn mowing and I can't do it. Last autumn I decided to try to sort out my FG and employed a gardener recommended by my neighbour - a 'trained' one 🙄 I asked him to 'trim' my geraniums which he interpreted as cutting hard back. A few bits have survived so they will spread again eventually but in the meantime I have a lot of bare soil......

problem is that most weed suppressing plants are themselves very invasive and take over which is OK in a confined space from which they cannot escape but otherwise...………..
