Hi everyone first afib attack was 2011 went from maybe 1 episode a year to now pretty much 2 days on 2 days off. 320mg sotolol and eliquis. Have been on cpap for nearly a year was getting 57 episodes an hour in my sleep study. Cpap hasn’t helped the afib but it has controlled my high bp to the point where I now don’t need meds. I am obese and cardiologist won’t consider ablation until I’ve lost 10% of my body weight I’ve lost about 18kg lots more to go just sick of the afib and if I’m not in afib I’m having ectopics every beat or every second beat before I go into afib.

I am not surprised that your doctor has advised weight loss. Recent studies have shown that reducing weight to a BMI of 25 or lower has in many cases removed the need for ablation and greatly reduced AF burden. Of course there are racing snakes with AF but always best to try that strategy first. Similarly obesity and sleep apnoea often go hand in hand so i am sure thaat your will benefit greatly.
