I know Metoprolol can causes breathlessness, I was on 7.5mg and my breathing was not very good . My Doctor up it to 10 mg believe it or not, I feel my breathing has improved a little, I spoke to my Doctor about it.. And left him scratching his head ,has any other member had this experience .

That seems an unusual amount of Metoprolol you mention. My tablets are 50mg and I take a quarter of one which is a very low dose. Are you in the UK as I didn't know we could get a lower strength and would be interested.

I'd write a new post if I were you. So many forum members use Bisoprolol that I'm sure you'd get a lot of answers.

I take 50mg a day, but have to cut tablet in half (2 x 25mg). The only lower dose I was offered, some years ago when i was only paroxysmal, , was in liquid form...in a huge bottle, too big to carry around and certainly not a pill in a pocket!!

I was on Metoprolol for 6 years it worked in a fashion and still had the odd paroxysmal AF. They were less effective over time, and the more you took the worse the side effects were. Changed to Bisoprolol 1.25mg a day , in one year no more AF and no more side effects. Beware though, on 2.5mg Bisoprolol I was a zombie . So for me less was better. And in the first 3 months of Bisoprolol I thought is was bad - so you do need to give it time. Regular walks and exercise and losing weight also helps. Teletubbies and AF do not work well.
