Hello everyone. My husband found out he was in afib a little over a year ago. He has had 2 cardioversions, one ablation. Neither would switch him out of afib. So the reality the dr says is that he will be in permanent afib. He is on a blood thinner and other meds to keep his heart rate at around 60. He has also been diagnosed with heart failure. His EF was at 20% but did go up to 30% last checked about 6 months ago. We were encouraged by this. He did have a defibrilator put in about a year ago due to the fact that his EF was not quite 35%. Dr. thought it would be wise. No pacing with this at this time. He takes a new drug called entresto for heart failure. He has been experiencing some mild chest pains a few times a day. We were wondering if that was maybe a side effect of the Entresto? We read it can be?
Chest Pain: Hello everyone. My husband... - Atrial Fibrillati...
Chest Pain
Hello Tuttle, most of us on the forum are not medically trained and I know I cannot comment because I have no specific knowledge of the medication but if mild chest pains are shown as a possible side effect then clearly this may be the cause. However, we are always nervous about any issues relating to chest pain and our advice has to be that unless you are able to contact his Consultant or local Doctor, it should be checked out at A&E. Of course, someone here may be more familiar with Entresto but it is not a drug that appears often on this forum. There are others heart related forums on Health Unlocked who may be better able to help you, hope things soon settle for him.....
Any chest pain is not worth guessing what it might be. Be safe and go to A & E
All the best to your husband
