The fact that teh DCCV wrked even for a short while is good news as it shows two things.1) you feel better in NSR and 2) ablation stands a good chance opf working.
Time to speak to your EP. ( or ask to see one if only being treated by a cardiologist)
Hard to do that without knowing a lot more about your AF timeline, progression, risk factors etc.
Agree with Bob, the only route forward is to seek a referral to see an Electrophysiologist (EP) and the sooner the better, so if it’s possible, consider a private consultation which might cost around £250.
That said, generally having a CV is part of a treatment plan and if this was arranged by a Cardiologist, then maybe a follow up review can be arranged to determine the options available to you. Ask if there would be any benefit in being prescribed a rhythm drug that might return back to NSR and keep you there until future treatment plans have been agreed.
The important thing is that whilst disappointing, it is not all doom and gloom for the reasons outlined by BobD
A high percentage actually fail during the first month (around 50%). After that the fall off rate lessens over time. You now need an Action Plan from your medical team. Good Luck.
