My husband has just had a catheter ablation, his first one, last Thursday. He’s having really bad headaches, is this expected? I will give the gp a ring on Monday if no better but just wondered if this is ‘normal’

Bad headaches can be due to medication.

I don’t know that from experience, just from research and reading others experiences.

Do you mean from the sedation that he was given?

Thanks for replying

Yes, or could be medication he’s on now, if any.

He’s been on the meds now for a few months so I don’t think it would be them causing it.

Hi Caza, it’s very common to experience headaches (migraine aura) after an ablation and they normally improve after a couple of days. Click on the link below and read the AF Association factsheet about recovering from an ablation.
