When I was first diagnosed with Afib. I did my best to inform myself about the condition. I had little in the way of computer skills but i somehow found out about the magazine Anticoagulation UK.It is a very useful slim volume of up and coming info. related to Afib. that is published three times a years.....sub. charge £10 a year.Never seen it mentioned here. Does anyone else subscribe to it?

"Every 18 minutes in the UK someone has an AF related stroke"

Wow.

Is that a stroke on anticoagulants or without

I doubt whether that has been parsed out. It will be the entire population with AF, regardless. However, anticoagulation is the only way to reduce the risk of stroke back towards 'normal' from the 'five times more likely' level that AF sufferers have.

Thanks for this information, have downloaded the details from PMRPete. When I was first diagnosed 17 years ago the only information I received was word of mouth from GP and clinic. I think this site and any additional information so worthwhile and not frightening.
