Hi everyone , My PAF has been behaving relatively well for some time now , had the odd mild episode when I’ve been unwell with non related stuff but on the whole it’s been good .. I get frequent ectopic beets but have learned to live with them and I take Diltiazem 300mg OD .
Last night while sitting on the sofa my heart went into flutter mode only this time rather than it quickly sorting itself out I felt I was drifting away and thought I was going to black out .. thankfully at what seemed the last minute normality kicked in. I’ve had flutters before but never like that ,it scared the hell out of me ...
all back to normal today and I do have a long standing appointment with my GP on Tuesday when I will mention it but in the meantime I was just wondering if you guys could give me some reassurance..

Do you take your BP? What you have experienced sounds like pre-syncope which is a common complication and side effect of having arrythmias and happens when your BP fluctuates and can drop suddenly called Vado vagal response. It can also happen when your heart goes too slowly for a few seconds and requires investigation, probably a mobile ECG for 7 days.
In the meantime you will find good information on the AA website - STARS & PoTS pages and action you can take to help yourself. Keeping well hydrated is the most important action but also balancing electrolytes can also help - eg eating a banana. It’s a horrible and very frightening experience especially when living on your own.
Thank you CDreamer ... I don’t take my blood pressure as I’ve never had a problem with it in fact I’m constantly being told my BP is good !
Your right , it certainly doesn’t help when you experience these things alone ... I will definitely have to get back into my Headspace .. thanks again will bring this all up with my GP
I’m sorry to go a bit off topic but my best mate at Uni was a Pugsley. We lost touch after graduation, it’s such a rare name. You’re not from Essex by any chance are you?
