Seeing halos.

And so it begins. Have only been on amiodorone for 2 days and my vision is bothering me. I spoke to the EP and he says this Med is a temporary thing for about 2. months. After reading everything I could get my hands on, on this site about amiodoron it seems that this med is to be given after all other options have been exhausted and also is not intended for long term use.

And just as quickly, it went away. I saw halos for about 15 minutes and now I’m back to normal again

Hi Alfieros

I was on this for 10 weeks with none of the feared side effects (that I’m aware of !). It did it’s job in taming my arrhythmia after an ablation to help my heart heal and now I just have to wait for the stuff to dissipate out of my body.

Best wishes.

That is really great to hear. Do you mind if I ask what your dose was? Glad you’re off of it now.

200mg/day

Try and be patient Alfieros, using amoidorone for a short period either side of a cardioversion or ablation procedure is not unusual and it really helps to keep the heart stable during the healing process.....not easy I’m sure, but you will get there......

Thank you FlapJack. The surgeon called me yesterday and so I was reassured but it’s so helpful to get feedback from people that actually have experiences.

When my EP asked me to take it for a couple of months I told him that I wasn't happy but he assured me it was OK for the short term. Since I have great confidence in him and had already trusted him with my life, I felt I had no option but to accept. It was his reputation on the line too !
