is your polar measuring your HR at the wrist or via a chest strap

Yes just like the Garmin. At my local a&E they have pulse monitors that clip on you finger for Heart rate. They don't work either. They say 75 bpm and I show them the Garmin at 165 and tell them the ecg will agree with it, so we have the ecg which does!
