Hi All I had a pacemaker put in the end of June. Yesterday I started to feel what I will call shocks in the breast under the side pacemaker installed. Sound familiar to anyone. BP excellent HR steady 60. No signs I am back in AFIB. Thought I would ck with the forum before panicking and calling my EP

Pacemaker and Shock
I don't have pacemaker but I think it best you check with professional just to make sure
Funnily enough I had something weird last night - just a few seconds x 3-4 times. It gave me the strong belly muscle twitches you experience when they are doing the pacing in the cath lab to get the right voltage, weird feeling. Pacemaker was only fitted on Wednesday so everything is still bedding in and it is only set to cut in when my HR goes below 60. I thought I would mention it at my check in 6 weeks time. Don’t know if that sounds familiar.
Can you ring the pacemaker clinic? I think they would be the people to contact first rather than EP.
Thanks CD don’t have a pacemaker clinic have a private EP my pacemaker was done in one of the hospitals that he practices is. Have a box next to my bed that sends him a signal if anything goes wrong but he hasn’t called me yet. Good luck with yours I will sit it out for the weekend and call Mon if the proble keeps arising
Mine has just kicked in again, huge thumps, I think I was just about to go into AF but it has settled now. Hope you get an answer soon - let me know what they said.
Holding off on calling Dr until Mon 2 of my grandsons play college football and I really want to see their game on Saturday. But when I get an answer will definitely let you know. Good thumps we don’t want AFIB to kick in Good Luck
I spoke to the physiologist PM technician who was in the cath lab and helped set everything up this morning. She told me my thumps were not dangerous - probably caused by the third lead being too close to the Phrenic Nerve Which Ogilvie suggested. We decided as it seems to be positional and not all the time to leave it unless it become particularly problematic. Evidently it’s not uncommon and there are some things they can do to reduce the affect. I’m going to wait until my scheduled appointment in 6 weeks.
Best wishes CD,
Hi There,
Sounds like one of your Pacemaker leads may be annoying the Pherenic nerve as this will cause the sensation you are referring. I had the same.
You need to talk to your Pacemaker Clinic and they will get you in to adjust the Pacemaker.
Thanks Ogilvie but shouldn’t the Latitude box hooked from my device to my Drs office be sending him a warning beep that something is amiss. That is what I understood when the box was set up in my bedroom. I will call him Mon morning to be safe. Thank you again for the info
The box may not see this as a heart issue and therefore not report it. Be safe, give them a call and let us all know what teh outcome is.
