Heat issues after ablation

Had what we thought was successful first ablation in January. At the end of June I started having issues with pvcs and tachycardia. I was on vacation at hit beach in North Carolina and had a ton of horrible episodes. I’m now back on rhythmol and cardizem and see cardio Monday. Landed in urgent care yesterday and was slightly dehydrated and all electrolytes were far low end of normal. Anyone have issues with heat after ablation? I’m not confident afib isn’t back and in either case these new episodes feels far worse than my afib ever did. Crazy tachycardia, dizzy and panic sets in. I’m hoping out of the heat and lots of water helps. Frustrated as I thought my heart would be as good as new after a supposedly successful ablation?

Very disappointing for you. It's good that you are seeing your cardiologist on Monday hopefully he or she will be able to throw some light on your current situation. Dehydration is to be avoided at all costs so may well have played a part in your Pvcs and tachycardia. Add in the heat and it's a good bet that in combination it's aided this arrhythmia break through. Here hoping your medic can shed light on your issues and get you back on track. Chin up soon be Monday and help at hand from your cardiologist. Best wishes.

Unfortunately may people experience multiple ectopics after ablation, especially in heat and when dehydrated - I think we post ablators are much more sentsitive. I also find I feel more ill with ectopics than in AF, even though they are considered benign.

Do you have a Kardia? That will always tell you what is going on.

I now try to avoid any trigger which will set them off and extremes of temperature, dehydration is top of my list.

Hi Dinodog

I can relate to the heat after my ablation back in June 2018 we have had really hot weather here in the UK and I could not be out in it for to long one day I thought it would be ok my heart rate went up to over 200 bpm just for a shot while. Yes heat is one to avoid

Thanks CDreamer and Donkster. Was at clinic again yesterday and while they missed on ekg doc could clearly hear I’m out of rhythm and rate is jumping from 120 to 140 to 110, etc- just not stable. It truly feels like afib again but the Holter that I expect tomorrow will confirm. As long as they can stop this with ablation or meds I’ll be happy because I can’t csre for my kids when this is happening it’s so debilitating. You guys are the best- keeping me sane having people who understand on this site. Smooth rhythm to all.
