Hi I was doing fine on Flecainade 150 but cos I’d had 2 small afibs in a month my cardio upped it to 200.
I started Wednesday and felt very hot clammy and cold but as I actually have a cold I thought it was that getting worse....yesterday Evening just as I finished dinner I cane over very clammy with stomach pains and went to the toilet but everything started to go weird and my vision was as if I was hallucinating. I felt very in control in my head but as I tried to get to my bedroom i called for help as I couldn’t walk as I felt very drunk and as if I was goung to pass out,,,my husband and daughter sajd all my body was shaking and I slid to the floor....my vision was all weird yellow and blue colors flashing . I had no strength in legs to get up and they had to put me in the bed......made me a sugary tea ugh! Drank makes of water and it finally calmed down....all the time I kept saying what on earth is happening as I knew what was going on but had no control of vision or my legs.......
Has anyone had this with flecainade? I presume it’s the extra Disney as I’ve been getting in so well. I’m also in bisoprolol , apixaban.
I haven’t taken my Flecainade this morning as I’m too scared.....I’m am going to ring cardiologist but it’s hit and miss if I will get a call today....
Can anyone shed light in this

You really must see your GP today and explain what happened. Certainly call your cardiologist too, but see someone medical today. I don't want to frighten you but if that was me I would be wondering if I'd had a TIA (mini stroke) and would want it checked out right away.
I agree with Jean that you should see somebody NOW! Go to A and E if needed but don't put this off. I have never heard of this being an effect of flecainide so it needs investigating..
I'm in agreement with Jeannie and Bob. I once took more than the max daily dose of flecainide by mistake and had no problem.
You definitely should go to A and E to check out the possibility of a TIA or something else. I dont think the effects of an increased dose would be that dramatic or quick as you had already been on 150mg.
Anyway, hope you are back to normal now and let us know how you get on. X
Thanks everyone, off to docs now.....I’m normal again, my heart was fine all thru this last night and pulse was in its normal range....I still keep getting clammy though.....gosh what a minefield of worries this is.....I was so smug I was feeling so well.....it was my husband 70 party this weekend and maybe stress made this all worse....thank you all for being there...xxxxsue
The cardio rang me back after I posted the last post and so I went straight to him....ecg etc...all fine.....he say fir my size flecanaide dosage 200 is the right dose, and saud he’s not convinced it was the cause, as I’ve a bad cold virus and maybe that was mixed in the frame. With the tablets mix.......but said to go back to 150 and see how it goes....so all in all I’m nit sure I’ve an answer at all....plus I’m in France and it’s all in French and I may miss bits as he speaks so fast..it’s quite hard to keep up...........i have never felt like that ever...it frit my husband and daughter as they had to help me up as my legs were like jelly.....I’m feeling ok now although my confidence has dented and all the uncertainty has wooshed back in my brain after quite a few weeks if normality.......sue
Hi Sue, I guess it could perhaps have been a combination of your cold and the extra Flecainide, but it wasn't that much extra was it. Were you taking any medication for your cold?
I once had something a little like you describe after eating chilli that had been re-heated twice. I had finished eating it and was halfway through my dessert when I had awful stomach pain and came over hot and clammy. I felt so dreadful I was on the floor, then I was sick and that gave me an almost instant cure. I'd never had anything like it before and still haven't to this day.
You were lucky to be seen so quickly by a cardiologist, I couldn't see that happening in the U.K. Did you have a blood test?
No dud r have blood test, it’s duferent here, the cardiologist are in buildings in town nit in hospital but they operate in hospital....he’s fully equipped in his town clinic but it’s in a building above the shops! It’s odd all the consultants seem to have places in town in normal office buildings.....yes you get to see a consultant very quick over here, unless it’s eyes there’s a six month waiting list! All French health system so near enough free....I struggle with understanding all the medical terms though....it makes it quite stressful when your supposed to be trying to be calm...
