Earlier this year I had my first appointment with an EP. He very kindly agreed to 100 of Flecainide to be used as a PIP. Since then it has been increased, firstly to 50x2 plus PIP and then to 100x2 plus PIP.
With each increase so has the strength and length of my AFib episodes so now I have decided to slowly decrease the dose and feel much better.
Has anyone else found the same problem with this drug?
I think if you read the leaflet you will see that Flecainide can help stop arrythmias but also has potential for triggering them. Many compounds used as medicines have reverse effects - what can cure can also cause. Getting the dose just right for you has obviously worked.
I’ve been on flecainide 100mg x twice a day since my ablation 6 weeks ago but yesterday my EP has agreed for me to reduce the dose by half to see if that’s enough to keep heart under control as the flecainide gives me unpleasant side effects.
I wish there was a more precise approach - this forum is fantastic as it has really educated me in this crazy world of afib/afl management... I feel so much better informed!
