This is my first post although I have been following this site for a while, having been diagnosed with permanent AF a few months ago, and seemingly some heart valve damage though I had no symptoms.
The symptoms I have now are due (I believe) to the meds I am taking, Bisoprolol in particular which I have just had changed to Carvedilol by my GP.
Does anyone have any experience of Carvedilol.....I realise we are all different but am really hoping it will suit me better than Bisoprolol. I had wondered about Nebivilol but was told by my GP that this is for adults 70 plus and I'm (not quite) there yet!
Thanks for taking the time to read this and any shared experience anyone may have,

Hello Mariah welcome, if you look under your post you will see a tag with
'Carvedilol' on it, if you click on that it will take you to other posts on the subject.
I have taken Nebivilol for over a year and was 68 when I began taking it . It is often prescribed for those with asthma or other chest conditions because it is usually better tolerated than other beta blockers. I haven't had any problems taking it so far. I think it is more expensive than some other beta blockers.
Thanks Doodle 68, I too am 68 so pretty near to 70. I think the trials they did on Nebivalol were on people aged 70 and over but I will push for this if Cordevilol doesn't help. It's good to be in contact with others in a similar position.
Hi Mariah222. As you say, we're all different but I felt really bad on Bisoprol and just the same when I was switched to Corvedilol, tired, lethargic, lacking any enthusiasm for life. Nebivolol has made a huge difference to me, physically and mentally. I'm 67. I have heard other people say that it's more expensive than other beta-blockers and this may be part of the reluctance to prescribe it.
Thank you MT51, I am due to start the Corvedilol tonight for a two week trial, so it will be great if it improves things for me. If not I will definitely push for Nebivolol and it's great to have your feedback to go by.
dear Mariah 222, I have been taking carvedilol for approximately 2 years. I didn't think I wAS having any med related problems until I started reading your post and the side effects info on carvedilol. I had a new pacemaker implanted just 3 weeks ago in order to have the wire for the left ventricle run exterior to the heart since the previous wiring (inside the heart) was causing diaphragm spasms.
since I have had the new pacemaker, I have been having difficulty walking and breathing at the same time. shortness of breath and dizziness have become a daily problem. The pacemaker settings were changed last week to allow the pacemaker to speed up as I walked and was active. (i'm sure this has a name but I don't know it) . that did seem to help some but am still having problems with dizziness and shortness of breath.
since reading your post I am wondering if the pacemaker change should have had a change in dosage of the carvedilol also.
I have an appointment with my cardiologist next week as after pacemaker implant follow up. I will surely discuss the dizziness and shortness of breath with him and see what can be done to reduce the shortness of breath and dizziness.
Im not sure if any of this is help to you, but at least you know you are not the only one struggling with drug side effects.
I'm quite new to all this but it sounds like it would be worth checking out your dosage etc. I am only on day 2 of the change from Bisoprolol to Carvedilol so too soon to say if it is better for me. I will post again though at the end of this 2 week trial.
