As we all know just smoking is bad. Not sure that it is any worse with AF or post ablation but if I can give it up then anybody can. I stopped over night in response to my dying Mother's request in 1982 but was mortified to find out last year that despite what I was told back then, my lungs will never recover. Lungs do not rejuvenate apparently so what damage was done is still there. 40 Marlboro to zero in one night. Must have damaged McLaren's income. lol

So much for the strapline "in 7 years you'll have the lungs of a non smoker"

I was also told that in 1993 and that any affects of it on my heart would also go. Seven years later I developed hypertension.

Can't "like" that! OH stopped in the hope of being able to stop meds and still fly solo. ( RAF) It never happened. I was convinced he'd start again after the disappointment but he didn't.

My holistic healer uses ozone in mixed IV with my own blood and vitamins I need. He does a scan (electromagnetic?) Which comes from Germany. My tx was determined by results. My hair grew back, my memory is much better, gained back 10 of 30 lbs lost. Basic theory is create a power house immune system. Also sweat therapy. Love my crazy wild little genius.

You and your Mother had a great love. Beautiful promise she requested. Beautiful that you kept your promise.

It depends on how seriously you take your health.

Obviously it is best not to smoke for all the reasons so widely published.

I read an article a couple of days ago about AF & smoking.

It was a long article but the core message was as follows:

“For every 10 cigarettes smoked a day, the risk of suffering from atrial fibrillation increases by 14 per cent, a study found today.

Study author Dr Dagfinn Aune, from Imperial College London, said: 'If you smoke, stop smoking and if you don't smoke, don't start.

'We found that smokers are at increased risk of atrial fibrillation, but the risk is reduced considerably in those who quit.'

Atrial fibrillation affects up to one in four adults in the UK and US, and is responsible for as many as 30 per cent of all life-threatening strokes.”

Hope this helps your decision.

Pete
