I had my Pacemaker fitted May 07 of this year. Then went on to have the AV Node Ablation June 28th.
Just wondering if any one else has gone through this ?
Did it improve your day to day living ?
Are you able to live a better quality of life ?

Personally no but plenty here have. It should mean that you heart rate (ventricular rate) will be steady and controlled by the pacemaker) so you should feel less of the symptoms like fatigue and or dizziness. It won't stop the fibrillation which may still be felt from time to time . It may take some time to get the full benefit.
Hello Bob,
Yes I was lead to believe this procedure would reduce my symptoms and indeed a reduction in medication.
I’m also aware it is not by any means a cure.
Also I may have to reside myself to thinking this is as good as it gets at 60 years old lol.
But if it stops the need for Ambulance callouts and admissions to A and E . That will do for me.
I don’t mind being on a go slow.
Yes had my ablate on June 19. So far so good! Do feel much better. Still taking it easy but hope to go from strength to strength. The reduction in meds is for me the best thing. Good luck with your recovery.
I am about to - probably in August so please keep posting as I will be very interested in your experience and recovery.
Ditto CDreamer. I'm getting my ICD at the end of July.
Hi Cas33, I hope you are doing well. I have just recently joined this forum. I also had an av node ablation on June 28th. After 2 months have passed I’m not sure it was successful. I’m still getting some high ventricle rates and other heart rates that seem to be generated from the atria. I was wondering what you have experienced and how you are feeling now. I just recently turned 64.
Hi again Cas33,
Thanks for answering. One of the advantages for me was getting off the meds; Diltiazem and Propafenone. I’m glad you were able to get off your meds, at least some of them. AF certainly isn’t any fun. I wish you continued recovery!
