Knowing your body.

Hi everyone, follow up from the hospital. Been assured that I didn’t have a heart attack. And the cardiologist said that he had enough inf. to diagnose. So they have tinkered with my meds. And don’t have to have another Stress test. Which i refused anyway.does anyone on Bisoprolol take the dose 2.5 twice a day? Instead of 5 mg in the morning? Hopefully I will feel less dizzy. Sometimes I wonder what is worse the illness or the cure. Take so much medication I am sure I rattle. My main problem is now that I seem to have lost my confidence. And wake up during the night in a panick, in case I have another turn. Must get over that. But find it hard to cope as my husband is getting worse. And being his carer life is no picnic. Take care all. Rienij.

Hi, if only our brains didn't wander off into what ifs especially when life is stressful. You certainly have a double whammy. My panics and anxiety are now mainly much reduced. I use various meditation aids ( not as regularly as I should) Andrew Johnson does good relaxation and sleep recordings if you like a calming Scottish voice. I also use Headspace ( Andy Puddicombe) on you tube as well as subscription. My all time go to is Professor Mark Williams also on you tube but there is an excellent book also. .youtu.be/fUeEnkjKyDs the pic on recording is also the name of the book. All his recordings are good but I like the body scan to help me manage.

Being a carer can be so draining without the concerns around your own ill health. Sending best wishes Wendyb

Thank you Wendy, I do try to meditate even if it is only for three minutes. I certainly will try your link. I have got a gadget called Alexa. And have been using the guided meditation with that. Once I get used to the new medication I might feel a bit more settled. And at last we are going to have a visit from The Dementia services this week. They might be able to help us a bit. Thank you once again for your support. Rienij

I've got Alexa will have to see if I can link to meditations while I'm waiting for meal to cook ( she's in the kitchen) Have a concern I might be starting down the road of carer as my husband is not the man he was. Takes a long time to process info plus a lot of other little signs ( I was a nurse). No one else seems to notice or are too polite to say. Such a lot for you to cope with for you. My AF is little troubleand hope it will stay that way.

My AF has been a bit haywire since January, i seem to have some sort of blockages so the cardiologist thinks. But have really suffered a big set back after going for a Stress test two weeks ago. Which went wrong somehow. Still hopefully it will settle down. My husband has vascular dementia. And his memory is definitely getting worse. Gardener had been, he talked to him but couldn’t remember doing or seeing him. He can’t learn new skills, not even a new coffee machine.Keep having to tell him who is coming and when. But soon after he will ask again. He now sleeps a lot. Especially since the ambulance took me to the hospital that really set him back. Although they phoned my daughter who came with her husband, and he stayed with him. Very cruel illness. As he always was very active and into the latest technology. That is now all gone. 😭 Rienij

Hi Rienij70, I was on 5mg very early on and wasn’t coping well I did cope better after splitting it twice a day although eventually changed to Diltiazem. We all sympathise with the anxiety issue and is always worse at night. I listen to talking books when my head won’t clear which I find excellent. Also I try meditation but I don’t seem to be very good at it😂. I do hope the dementia services can help you out and make life a little easier.

Thank you Brenda, I hope they can. When you are a carer to someone with dementia, it is something new every day. And so unknown. I try to stay calm but it is difficult. So fingers crossed. I have only just changed to splitting the dose of Bisoprolol, but I think it is a bit better. So difficult to tell, as I just started to take Isosorbide Mononitrate as well. May I ask what time did you take the second dose? At the moment I take it with my warfarine at six pm. And the second dose of nitrate at eight. I am trying not to have them to late at night. Thanks Rienij

I used to take it around 10pm with my other medication and 10am. I am on Apixaban which has to be taken at 12 hourly slots so it suits to take my other Meds at the same time, except for omeprozole and furosemide which I take at 7.30 in the morning otherwise I can’t go out until the effects of the furosemide have worked off due to constant loo visits.😂

That rings home, visits to the loo In my case bendrofluzide. I am sure should we fall down we would rattle. I tend to take most of my meds, first thing than start again at 6 pm than 8 than at 10.30.pm 😳
