I take 10m/g bisoprolol daily and my feet feel numb. Could this be a side effect?
Bisoprolol: I take 10m/g bisoprolol... - Atrial Fibrillati...
Bisoprolol
Yes it could be a side effect, tips of my fingers and my feet were tingling when I was on Bisoprolol, my feet were very cold too. I was breathless and struggled to walk up a slight incline. I was eventually changed to Atenolol and Flecainide and I felt great, with no side effects, I am also Riveroxiban for anticoagulation. Ask your EP or Cardiologist to change from Bisoprolol
I already had a form of neuropathy caused by Cipro/Quinolone type antibiotics that worsened when taking Bisoprolol. When I stopped it the neuropathy just about went back to its previous level.
Beware if offered that family of antibiotics as like Amiodarone it can cause side effects long after stopping it. Germany and Canada is considering banning them for all but life threatening conditions and Germany asked the EMA (European Medicines Agency) to hold an inquiry into them. It was held last week with a live stream broadcast on the internet and now available on YouTube. If you have five hours to spare and want to hear horror stories of their devastating side effects this is the link.
Absolutely, in my early days on Bisoprolol (5mg daily) my feet and hands would at times (not all the time) go ice cold. About the only way I could overcome this was to go to bed with a hot water bottle, the electric blanket on (Yeah - I know) and gloves and socks on. I'd then fall asleep for a few hours, wake up - feeling rubbish - then I'd be OK again in a few hours.
Now over 8 years down the track this still happens but not so severe, and usually only the feet. Nowadays I just go to bed, with a hot water bottle only, have a mug of hot, sweet coffee. I hug the hot water bottle to my chest, fall asleep, wake up a few hours later and am just fine.
Also in my early days I was prescribed Bisoprolol to be taken in the morning. Then I developed severe nose bleeds, occurring at random any time of day. Went back to my GP, had a complain and she got out her book of 'Witches, potions and brews' and said take it at night. Not had a nose bleed since. Does the job, keeps my heart rate nice and steady at around 62 to 65 bpm, although occasionally it drops down to 53 and on some occasions down as low as 46 bpm.
