DOES ANYONE KNOW OF HEALED PAF?
Hi Octopus do you mean 'cured', my understanding is there is no cure for AF .
Treatment which is aimed at achieving a good quality of life can result in long periods with few or no symptoms but there is always a possibility AF could return.
Agree with doodle, AF is a mongrel condition that affects people in so many different ways so it is impossible to say if any one has permanently stopped having AF episodes. Changes in lifestyle can make a significant difference, but as you can see from recent posts, there are no guarantees even after an ablation. Of course, no one can say it cannot happen either so I will be interested to read any other replies to your post....
There is no such thing as healed, only control to varying degrees.
I think the correct answer might be that we only here of people having AF, the ones that stop we don't here from, but I am sure that it does happen. Having said that it is always good to have a doctor involved as there might be various underlying causes.
Hi had a hybrid ablation first part Nov last year second part 5 weeks ago for permanent af which I had for nearly 4 years have been in nsr since the second stage not sure if this counts as still early days am only 49 so have a long time to see
As with the latest acceptable levels of cholesterol and other such, the medical profession make up their own mind as to when they consider AF is no longer an issue. After no AF for 4 years my cardio has put me on annual check-up.
While the word 'cure' is not used in AF, it can certainly be in remission for many years. Once people are no longer dealing with AF episodes they do tend to leave forums such as this as they no longer need the support.
I had an PAF in 2005 and another PAF in 2007. None since. I would like to keep it that way and am on a blood thinner just in case.
I have posted several times about my experience with help from a chiropractor. You can search for those posts. If there is a cure, I suspect solving sympathetic and parasympathetic nerve issues in the neck and back will someday be it. Because chiropractors are so misaligned by the mainstream medical community, this will likely take some years.
Hi
What I am about to write will upset many but you posed a question that I could not ignore
Cure or control still not sure yet but I think it’s possible to cure it over time given the right tools
I had my first episode 2 half years ago
Not nice as we all know very scary time for me
However , as a A & E nurse myself I knew that many times the drugs given to us are not there to heal but to keep people sick in order for drug companies to make money , I could go on but will stop and respect people’s choice
My choice from day one was to not take anything u till I fully understood what the hell was going on with my body .
So I took made a health journal for myself and daily documented everything I ate did when I had a episode
I was diagnosed with PAF heart rate would normally go up to 160 bpm my Normal is 60 bpm at rest
I had th usual cardiac work up and thank god heart no problem
So I had questions why how
I also believe in documenting everything and noticing trends
From the first day I had paf I was OCD with what I put into my body
I complete stopped all processed sugar caffeine dairy
And went to organic fruit no red meat just poultry
I don’t smoke or take any alcohol
5his detox hightlighted that I had severe gut issues
This then lead me to the gut heart link
And for certain when I had bloating gas heartburn sure enough I would get Afib
Things were starting to make sense
I spoke with the cardiologist and flatly refused all medications I needed to know the whys
And my beliefs are heal the body on the biochemistry level and u can start healing
As a nurse working in such a huge busy department I had burnt myself out and studying as well I am in my fifties good health so I thought I was overweight highly stressed
So my other theory was in many people with no heart disease the body has became toxic acidic due to inflammation and the oxidative stress link stress hormones
I believe it’s all about 5he inflammation of the heart and it’s become agitated
That’s why younger people get it from over excerise
So I took all anti inflammatory s for my body in food and herbs
I would not do any form of excerise yet until I calmed my body down
I took 7 months off work to do all this and very grateful to my beloved NHS
I don’t believe in denying yourself so when I stopped all the goodies I found amazing alternative
Because what was my choice change everything to heal to see what happened or stay as I was no thank you
I don’t go with studying papers they can be fixed I know trust them many it’s all a scam
Do what u can see if something works good continue if it does not then stop or change it I can talk here too much to say
I then started taking herbal in dried form only no alcohol since alcohol is an enemy for the body
I took all the vitamins that I researched for me
After 6 months solid of doing this i started to see results
I was getting paf 1/2 month it’s started to reduce to 1 month then after a couple months I noticed that the length was coming down from 6/8 hours mostly night time to 3/4 hours
After a further two months the episodes were becoming 20 minutes
Then I realised I had no Afib for 4 months
Still stopped all above cause it’s of no use to my body I learnt a better lifestyle I still have fish cHips when I like but not the other stuff
I am still on my journey and believe that my cells needs to heals as they were damaged from the inflammation I had caused due to stress hormones and extremely bad eating habits
I will not know if it will cure yet but so far after 2 half years the trend is positive
The reason I did not take medication like beta blockers
My normally my heart rate was 60 at rest I did not want my heart rate to drop too low and on researching these medications beta stops the ATP energy from getting to cells I did not want that the whole point was to heal the cells not damage more so in the long term the outcome for my Afib would get worse
I know I have had alot to say just I wanted to share this journey of mine with others
I am now starting to do weight training mild at home to tone and walk flat not too far still want to keep body happy until I know I have put back the nutrition and healing he cells
I was when started 85 kg after 14 years I. A & E I am now 59 kg I did not diet just good food and reduce stress
👋
I love your approach. I too am a big believer that food can have bigger medicinal properties than people realise.
I was diagnosed with gallstones at the age of 25. The hospital would not go down the operating route because of my size. My consultant said not a low fat diet a no fat diet (there is no such thing) and referred me to a dietician. Over the next 6 years I spent countless times in hospital for 7 to 10 days at a time with inflammation of the gallbladde at one point it affected my appendix and pancreas too and I collapsed at work.
One Sunday I sat reading the newspaper and there was a review for a book called Food Your Miracle Medicine by an American gentleman who worked in the medical profession. I purchased it.
In the book I found a piece on gallstones and the gallbladder. It said that contrary to popular medical advice in some parts of the world cutting out fat was seriously bad for this problem. He explained that starving the body of fat resulted in the body releasing large amounts of the more dangerous fat we store in to our bloodstreams and it was this that formed in to gallstones and caused other issues with the gallbladder etc.
His theory was that one of our meals every day needed to contain x amount of fat preferably of a healthy fat nature such as fresh salmon, olive oil etc.
I followed his advice and I went from being hospitalised several times a year to not an ounce of trouble (touch wood ) for over 20 years.
I only wish I had applied this type of help to the rest of my body over the years I probably wouldn't be in this message with ailments that I'm in now.
Thank for your comments I wish u well
