Dental procedure

I had an ablation a couple weeks ago. Is it OK to go to the dentist for regular cleaning? Or do I need to take precautions?

Shouldn’t be any problem Asdfvv. If appropriate, tell them if you are taking anticoagulants but all should be well.

How do you feel having had an ablation? Your response might help glenpointe (hopefully)

I gotta be honest. The procedure was not a pleasant experience. I spent a couple of days in great pain. But now I am feeling better. I think I am beginning to feel more normal. I stopped taking all medications. I haven't experienced any more flutters or afib. I think I have only had a few ectopic heart beats after eating heavy meals. The only thing is my resting heart rate is higher now. Around 90bpm. I hope that in time, I will feel normal and strong again.

Sounds like it is going in the right direction, glad you are beginning to feel a bit more normal. The high HR can take some time to settle but it does lower in time.

Best wishes

Best wishes, do take it easy. Your post has just promoted me.I think it has been a while since the mouth heart link has been mentioned here. From my experience and the research I have done, for those just starting with AF or even like you after an ablation it should be a priority to get your teeth in tip top condition & up your regular daily dental hygiene procedures; I was very poor on the latter but have learnt my lesson and my dentist has bought a new car!

My teeth actually used to be really strong and beautiful. But these past few months, due to some of the medications I was taking, I have seen my tooth turn yellow and slightly transparent. Unfortunately, I believe it is because of dry mouth, which I never had before this.

I would advice you to consult your doctor first, especially if you are on any kind of Blood thinners I doctor advice me to wait at lease 5months after I had my Cryo ablation.
