Here’s hoping that he will have some suggestions to help move you forward. Very often they suggest a second attempt, but with the addition of more potent medication before and after the procedure to help achieve and maintain sinus rhythm. Please let us know what is suggested, best of luck.....

Well the doctor admitted that mean missing a dose might have been an issue but overall they feel it's probably not working for me. I'm going to do a sleep test to see if I can help me with my afib but that's not for several weeks in the meantime I have a strict Regiment of amiodarone 200 mg 2 pills in the morning two pills a night for two weeks, then one dose of 200 mg in the morning and one at night for another 2 weeks and the last week just one dose of 200 mg either day or night. I got to be honest with you I'm a little nervous I read all the side effects it looks like it's a little more riskier than flecainide I also talked to the pharmacist and she agreed this one has a little bit more I'll draw. My wife reminded me that the doctor said some of the side effects might knock you again I am a big guy 6 300 lb and they may also take a while and the goal is to keep me on this temporary if it doesn't work in a month we're going to go for another cardioversion PS they found my cholesterol at 1:38 so they put me on atorvastatin which I hear can turn your skin grey after using it for a year so that's just great so I'm going to work hard on my diet watch my cholesterol intake and just keep an eye out for these side effects and just try to function the best I can around them thanks guys.

Since I am on Amiodarone what is the likelihood that he will keep me on that or give me the option of doing that or the cardioversion I definitely don't want to do the ablation I'm thinking that this medicine is keeping me pretty much symptom-free which it has been for almost 2 weeks now why not give me the choice of doing so I was doing it 2 pills of 200 twice a day now I'm on one pill of 200 twice a day and in a week I'll be down to one pill of 200 once a day I only felt symptomatic the day that I shifted from twice a day of 202 one pill of 200 twice a day it could have been cuz I overexerted myself too so I'm not really sure but anyways I'm just trying to avoid ablation if possible I don't mind trying the cardioversion one more time but if not maybe he'll let me just stay on this medication. Instead of trying to do the inflation or is the cardiologist goal is to get me to a normal heart rhythm even if I'm feeling okay with the medicine?

As you probably know we are not medically trained therefore we are unable to give specific advice. However, we can convey comments we hear from reliable sources. Many people seem concerned about taking Amiodarone for long periods of time as it can cause thyroid issues and for some, the side effects can be unpleasant. It is not generally recommended for long term use. I think you should seek advice from an EP making sure that he is aware of all your health issues. Hopefully, a treatment plan will emerge specific to your needs....best wishes

Thank you for your information you're right I'm sorry if I came across is asking for medical opinions. I just try to draw from different people's experiences to see what's work for them to possibly see if I can suggest that to my doctor. If this medication is helping me maybe at a lower dose he might keep me on it but I will bring up the concern that you mention about long-term use and the side effects.

I was wondering how safe it would be to have a small pitcher beer and some chicken wings this weekend? I have lost about 8 pounds I am on amiodarone my heart rate is usually between 60 to 80 daily of course it is still irregular heartbeat but it is slow and controlled I did not feel afib ish most of the time doing great on an exercise routine and don't want to ruin it but want to get together with a couple buddies and watch a little baseball and relax with slight amount of beer and some good hot wings I don't usually indulge except during football season. I usually drink a little bit of beer during football season with some hot wings and that's pretty much it.
