I know some people are allergic to the halter monitor leads, but has anyone ever had to seek medical attention for it?? I had a reaction before, but not this bad. Anyone else experience this? I actually had bruising.

Allergic reaction to halter monitor leads
I have had severe allergic reactions to heart monitors in the past following ablations. On more than one occasion I was wired up for more than 24 hours.
The photo you have posted is almost identical to what happened to me. This was followed by severe Urticaria that lasted weeks.
The solution for me was prevention. I use Double Base to shower and for the last two ablations I had the anaesthetist applied Opsite spray which formed a barrier between the electrodes and my skin. In addition I was given intravenous steroids and was taken off the monitors at the earliest opportunity.

They do have special pads available for people such as yourself. The nurse should have asked if you are allergic to latex before sticking them on.
OOOOH YES!!!
I still have scars from the several occasions when I've had this on for a week at a time and dread the next appointment as I just know my cardiologist will suggest this again. I have a burn scar on my chest just where they attach one of these sticky pad things and this then causes the scarring to bleed. It's so itchy from the minute it's attached and then withing hours these big red blistery circles appear. And they tell me it's the sensitive pads they use!!! I didn't have bruises though!
stay well,

There are 2 types of sticky pads. Blue and pink. Im allergic to one of them so last time I asked for the other colour and no problem. Cant remember which one now. My skin was burned the first time. I had a 5 day holter monitor.
