I was diagnosed with Afib in July 2020. I had a cardioversion and returned to sinus rhythm. I was put on Eliquis and Diltiazem in Dec 2020. Since that time if I get hot my skin becomes very prickly like someone is snapping elastics all over my body. I then seek out a cool place quickly and once my body cools the prickly feeling goes away. This also occurs while taking a hot shower. I cannot predict when this will occur as it’s not on every hot day or during every hot shower. I have asked several doctors and my pharmacist if this is medication related and they all say no, Has this happened to anyone else in this group?

I get hot flushes which I believe are caused by diltiazem but not the prickly feeling. I was just writing that you should report it when I remembered that you have already 🙄
Hello Buffafly, I have had horrendous hot flushes and then shivers with Diltiziam and have felt really unwell so have had it changed by my gp. Are you still okay with it? Many thanks, Judi
I take Tildiem 300 LA (diltiazem) and get skin that feels like mild sun burn and also occasional warm flushes. I believe these are known side effects of this drug.
Its definitely not the Eliquis causing it as I've been taking that for years but only recently started the Tildiem.
Hi, I had dreadful prickly itch after CHF, especially on upper arms and neck. It gradually eased and has now, over a year later, practically gone except if very hot. Nurse didn’t think it was medication related. Tried lots of skin creams, only one that seemed to give relief was DoubleBase. Hope you get sorted as it’s a miserable condition.
My experience is that after 8yrs on Warfarin with few side effects I was switched to apixaban. Since then I had lots of side effects eg muscle weakness, joint pain. nausea, random itching, but not prickly skin
Thanks for your response. My heart rate is less than 100 at rest. The prickliness only happens if I get hot. No rash on skin just intense prickling everywhere till I get cool.
i went through a period of not tolerating hot shiwers as my skin became sensitive. Not now since pacemaker implant and weened off meds now. I am one of those with low sude affect tolerance for drugs. The pm seems to have done the trick.
Hi. My husband has had this for years. Hot bath shower even in hot weather the heating goes on. Has to keep the temperature the same. Cant go swimming. Itches the GP recommended antihistamines 3 a week. Allergy to water yes..... really. Ive probably spelt the urticaria wrong.
