Tried to lower dose of fleicanide to 75mug 2x a day since it has caused a long QT wave. Cutting a 100mg pill to 75 mg is impossible. Now, I have had quivering like my heart wants to do the dirty deed and go into a fib. I cough and it stops. Going back on 100mg two times a day, darnit. I will not take eliquis had a bad bleed after one shot. So I take fish oil and a baby aspirin. I wonder if you can take the thinner only when you are in an attack? No one can answer this. I am so frustrated............hate to leave the house and having panic attacks. 2 ablations worthless on same med. as before. Help

If you have not read the post Cardiac Arrhythmias - the Missed Cause, it might be worth a look. Vitamin C, E and D3 might be worth researching. Sometimes you should not take some supplements with medications. Since coughing has a impact, there could be something wrong with some of your vertebrae.

Live with backache and do have vertebrae issues.

I would imagine the cough is like a vasovagal maneuver - I can often stop an episode starting with that,

Please DO NOT stop your ACs - they are anti-coagulants - NOT blood thinners.

Aspirin is useless at PREVENTING clots caused by AF

Please go and see your doctor ASAP to discuss your bleed risk and the supplements you are also taking - there is more than likely an interaction.

Daily aspirin is associated with an increased risk of GI bleeds - and those you wouldn’t see so are much more dangerous.

Aspirin is worse than useless for clot prevention - it is an anti-platelet so is useful AFTER the event of clots forming - and some other conditions.

Also aspirin effect takes two weeks to wear off, not good if you need an emergency procedure!

The coughing effect suggests it's vagal AF- there are alternative drugs so do discuss with your doctor

Thank you all for your posts. I went to the doc. today and was convinced I must take a blood thinner. So, I am now on it folks. I threw the aspirin away and supplements, however if it takes two weeks for aspirin to go away maybe I need to not take another Eliquis until two weeks in up? In a quandary. NO asprin products at all in my future according to Doc.

Hi Razorgirl. Taking 2 x 75mg sounds tricky (and probably not very accurate). Have you discussed 3 x 50mg at 8 hourly intervals? You'll end up with the same 150mg but spread more evenly over the day. Perhaps phone the doc first though.

Got up this morning with fear about eliquis was reading some reviews!!!!!!!!!!! Horrible!!!! Visibly nervous about a bleed in my head. I want to quit this drug...........omg.

The thing is, if someone convinces you that you need to take an anticoagulant and you are not keen, there is no peace of mind, for you may feel you are damned if you do and equally damned if you don't. I found myself in this unhappy position four years ago. I had been made to feel absolutely sure that a stroke was imminent and I had been lucky not to have one. I was fairly sure I'd have a nasty accident or a brain haemorrhage but it seemed slightly better than a stroke. Having seen some remarkable recoveries from strokes since then, I'm a tiny bit less fearful now, but at the time I felt my best option would be swift death courtesy of the anticoagulant. Life was over! I felt very moribund for a while, timid in all sorts of directions. And rather bitter and very angry.

But despite my fears, I have been fine and four years on, older, more at risk and now very relaxed about anticoagulation. I look back at an unhappy time and feel instead very lucky that today we have at our disposal such sophisticated medical advances, enabling us to have a measure of protection if we are at risk.

Hi don't know how to make another post? So I will ask you for help. Are you in A Fib permanently? I only have had it once every 2 or 3yrs. Also, have you had any injections since taking the blood thinner? I had a bad bleed in my arm from a shot? That is one reason I am soooooooooooooo concerned. Thank you Rellim2
